If you live in Rogers, voters just signed off on a big to-do list. They approved all six bond issues Tuesday, authorizing about $457.25 million for streets, parks, public safety and other projects, and elected to extend the 1% sales tax.
It's not a new tax. Voters extended the existing one-cent tax that helps pay the city's bond debt, now expected to run until about 2047. KNWA FOX24's pre-election rundown laid out the six questions.
- Walnut Street widening: Dixieland Road to Eighth Street
- Furthest along: Oak Street and Arkansas Street projects
- Animal Services: new facility to double shelter capacity
- Current bonds are paid off in May 2029
The city has no definitive construction schedule yet, and some projects still need right-of-way acquisition and utility relocation. Public relations manager Peter Masonis said finance staff have already been on the phone with underwriters.
“Every voter should expect transparency as these projects are moving forward.”
