- ➤ Four local shelters are joining the national Clear the Shelters campaign in August to help pets find new homes, and Best Friends Animal Society in Bentonville will waive fees and host events this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fayetteville Animal Services will cut fees by half while Bella Vista Animal Shelter will hold a charity sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug 16–23 — offering a larger, safer venue for supporters. - ➤ Andrew James McGann, 28, was arrested on Wednesday for capital murder after a couple was killed while hiking at Devil’s Den State Park and will appear today in court for a preliminary hearing where he will learn his charges, have bond set or denied, and receive a court date—he had previously worked as a teacher in Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma but had not started his position at Springdale Public Schools.
