BUSINESS NEWS

  • Wienerschnitzel plans to open restaurants in six Walmart stores — in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico and Washington — by this fall, and the chain currently operates in Bentonville, Springdale and Siloam Springs. The franchise will serve its full menu including chili cheese dogs and Tastee Freez desserts as part of its expansion.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • The 63-room My Place Hotel opened at 3138 S.E. East Pointe Ave. in Bentonville as the first My Place Hotels of America property in Arkansas. Wichita-based TGC Group developed the four story hotel—designed by Salt Lake City-based The Richardson Design Partnership—with financing from Central National Bank of Wichita through a $6.25 million loan maturing in 2047.  NWA Business Journal
  • A 5,825-square-foot tunnel car wash — located at 1005 S. Walton Blvd — sold for $5.55 million, with Springfield-based Big Ranch LLC paying $953 per square foot. Other transactions include a downtown office building sold for $5.25 million by The Emerson Group and a commercial building near the Walmart Home Office bought for $3.5 million by Walmart Inc — part of a busy week in local business.  NWA Business Journal

  • Bentonville Schools’ Book Bus began its summer tour at Vaughn Elementary to fight the summer slide by offering a refreshed bus with rows of books, air conditioning, an awning, and a new bookshelf-style design—music on board aims to attract families and boost reading skills.  4029 News
  • Bentonville Film Festival will screen the documentary COLBERT: All Students Can Learn on June 18 at 12:30 p.m. at Skylight Cinema as part of the Juneteenth Film Celebration—this film traces educator John Colbert's journey from a 17-year-old bus driver to a respected superintendent honored with a new school and will include a Q&A with director Mike Day.  5 News
