Cayce Guy, a wildlife biologist at Steve Wilson Raft Creek Bottoms Wildlife Management Area, led a crew that banded 5,826 ducks last fall to gather data on waterfowl migration in North Arkansas.
Teams used rocket nets and baiting techniques to track the birds for migration research.
Birders visited the new Mulhollan Bird Blind on Nov.
30 during a Northwest Arkansas Audubon Society field trip at Lake Fayetteville's south shore, where they observed migrating waterfowl (and other species) as the birds flew south for the winter.

On Dec. 11, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission stocked rainbow trout in local lakes under the Family and Community Fishing Program in Rogers, Bentonville, Springdale, and Van Buren.
The Polar Bear Bass Tournament is set for Jan. 1 at Beaver Lake from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
