  • A new migration study found more than a quarter of Arkansas’s new residents moved to Bentonville between November 2024 and October. The report highlights the city as a top destination + a hub of growing opportunities.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Yellow Rocket Concepts launches a fundraiser through Dec. 31 that lets customers support local food banks by purchasing gift cards; for each $100 spent, it donates $5 to either the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank in Lowell or the Arkansas Foodbank in Little Rock — helping provide meals locally.  NWA Business Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • AR Kids Read has been chosen as the state lead for the national Campaign for Grade Level Reading to help third graders improve their reading skills. The nonprofit will work with schools + community partners across Arkansas to boost collaboration and support students reading below grade level.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Northwest Arkansas Land Trust permanently protected the 769-acre White River Headwaters Preserve in Madison County to safeguard wildlife habitats & water quality for over 500,000 residents. The area will soon open for hiking and research, promising lasting environmental benefits.  5 News
  • Duck season's second segment opens Dec. 10 with hopes for more ducks as hunters are reminded to apply now for weekend permits, and AGFC offers permit-based quail hunts at select WMAs later in December and January. AGFC also released River to Ridge, a new guide to state wildlife areas.  5 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Motorists in Bentonville will soon see new anti-litter displays along highways, with installations beginning next week at Exit 91 on I-49 and a similar display at Exit 42 in Jonesboro. HEALTH NEWS

  • Arkansas health officials said there are nearly 800 lab-confirmed flu cases this season, with about 500 reported in recent weeks as local providers note the strain is more severe. Doctors advise families to wash items (like coats, gloves, backpacks) and seek treatment early if symptoms appear.  5 News
