COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Some Northwest Arkansas families enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal today — neighbors and volunteers at a local food pantry donated turkey, potatoes and groceries to help bring the holiday meal to homes across the region.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Four local organizations will host the Northwest Arkansas Local Food Systems Conference on Dec. 10 and 11 at the Jones Center in Springdale to boost the local food system.   • Today many groups offer free Thanksgiving meals to help people in need—Benton County options include the Bentonville Salvation Army serving dinner at 5 p.m. at 3305 SW I St and For The Love NWA serving a meal at 5:30 p.m., while meals are also available in Rogers and Centerton. Other nearby areas, including Fayetteville and Fort Smith, will host events to serve those facing food insecurity.  5 News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Lincoln family in Fayetteville lost their home to a fire earlier this week but all their members are safe—local community members and Premier Trailer Sales employees donated essential items and arranged a motel stay while they search for a new home.  5 News

  • Walmart is negotiating a purchase of R&A Data—a startup that reduces scams on online markets—and the retailer is preparing for a leadership change as John Furner is set to replace retiring CEO Doug McMillon.   • Benton local Christopher S. Dickie, founder and CEO of Peak State Recovery in Paron, reached 18 years of sobriety on November 19—his journey involved tough challenges like a divorce, the loss of his father, and rebuilding his life amidst personal and professional setbacks. SPORTS NEWS

  • Bryant’s coach Quad Sanders said his Hornets must be ready for a revamped Rogers team in Friday night’s Class 7A semifinal at Hornet Stadium—Rogers has built one of the state's highest-scoring offenses. Meanwhile, Benton will travel to face Greenwood in the Class 6A semifinal and Hot Springs Lakeside will try to break its losing streak against Parkview in the Class 5A semifinal as both coaches stress careful play and preparation.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino did not reveal whether senior quarterback Taylen Green or redshirt freshman KJ Jackson will start in Saturday’s season finale against Missouri — a choice that will come as the Razorbacks, who rank high in total offense but suffer from costly turnovers, look to improve their play at Reynolds Razorback Stadium.
