BUSINESS NEWS

  • On Monday, the Agriculture Department warned poultry growers after a backyard flock in Mississippi County showed signs of bird flu and urged them to follow safety rules and report sick birds. CommunityAmerica Credit Union merged with UNIFY Financial on November 1—giving the group a federal charter and top 40 status, while the Arkansas Index ended Monday at 916.49 with a drop of 1.63 points.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

CULTURE NEWS

  • Three Days Grace will perform at the Rogers venue on Oct. 28, 2026 as part of their tour for the album Alienation. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Nov. 14, 2025 with prices ranging from $62 — $200 plus fees.  5 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Thaden School (a private independent school) received the Andrea Palladio International Prize for its campus design in global competition held in Vicenza, Italy. Rogers Public Schools was awarded a $710,500 grant from the Walton Family Foundation to expand its honors academy and career programs.  NWA Business Journal
  • Enrollment in concurrent credit classes at Northwest Arkansas Community College continues to grow this semester after the ACCESS Act removed financial barriers for high school students—officials say more students will soon have the chance to earn college credits while still in school.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Arkansas Razorbacks, who have a 2-7 record, will play LSU, Texas, and Missouri on the final three Saturdays of the 2025 season—games that will become their permanent SEC matchups for 2026 to 2029.   • The University of Arkansas women's basketball team beat Central Arkansas 89-77 in overtime Monday night at Walton Arena—avoiding Coach Kelsi Musick's first loss. The Razorbacks erased a seven-point deficit late in regulation—scoring the final seven points to force overtime and secure the win.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • The No. 21 Arkansas men’s basketball team will host Central Arkansas today at 7 p.m. at Walton Arena in Fayetteville after a 69—66 loss at Michigan State dropped them in the AP poll—Arkansas has a 9—0 record against Central Arkansas and coach Calipari hopes his team will bounce back at home.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Mike McBride fished at Lake Sequoyah on Oct. 17 using his self-made long rod to lure crappie—some of which bite so lightly that the angler may not feel the bite. He stated that as the water cools, the panfish are expected to bite more steadily.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Matt Jones and Anthony Kristensen recapped last Saturday’s game between the Razorbacks and Spartans—Northwest Arkansas broadcaster Blair Cartwright remembered longtime play-by-play man Mike Nail, who died at 80 over the weekend.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
