- ➤ Today, the National Weather Service warns parts of Arkansas will face severe weather with large hail and possible tornadoes as storms break out between noon and 4 p.m. In west and northwest areas, damaging winds, flash flooding and one-to-two inches of rain are expected as storms reach Little Rock, Conway and Hot Springs around 3 p.m.—bringing cooler temperatures tonight. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Northwest Arkansas law enforcement agencies will join the 'Put the Phone Away or Pay' campaign starting Sunday and running through Oct. 25 to fight distracted driving on local roads. Officials say the effort will boost patrols under the federal Selective Traffic Enforcement Program & help make travel safer. Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

- ➤ Bentonville West's defense and special teams stepped up when the Wolverines struggled with their offense, helping the team control the game. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
- ➤ After a 56—13 loss to Notre Dame led to head coach Sam Pittman’s firing, interim coach Bobby Petrino now leads the Razorbacks who hold a 2—4 record and an 0—2 start in SEC play. The team has struggled with turnovers, as seen in a 34—31 loss to Tennessee, and will face Texas A&M soon. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
