CRIME NEWS

  • A new law lets victims of Bitcoin ATM scams get a full refund if they report the fraud within 72 hours—Rogers police are already helping current cases while Bitcoin Depot is suing the Benton County Sheriff’s Office over a disputed $14,120 seizure after a scam call raised serious concerns about law enforcement practices.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • The 2025 Bikes, Blues and BBQ motorcycle rally has begun and continues today in downtown Rogers—offering vendor booths, rides and live entertainment for fans of local events.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Rogers officials met with planners on Thursday to review a proposal that calls for more access links, shade trees and better park connections along the Razorback Greenway—planners said the plan, funded by the Walton Family Foundation, will be shared with the seven participating cities by January.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • A new Arkansas law—Act 557—lets victims of Bitcoin ATM scams cancel fraudulent transactions and get a full refund if they report the scam within 72 hours; Rogers police have already begun helping refund victims while the law does not cover earlier cases. The law took effect Aug. 5 and is designed to combat the rising threat of virtual currency fraud.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Bentonville announced that portions of two city roadways will be closed for utility work throughout October. East Central Avenue between South Main and Southeast F will be closed from midnight—6 a.m. and Southeast B Street between East Central and Southeast Second will be closed from midnight—6 p.m. on Oct. 10th, Oct. 14th, Oct. 17th, Oct. 21st, Oct. 24th, Oct. 28th and Oct. 31st; weather or unforeseen circumstances may postpone the closures.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Bentonville officials announced that East Central Avenue will be closed from midnight—6 a.m. and Southeast B Street will be closed from midnight—6 p.m. on Oct. 10, Oct. 14, Oct. 17, Oct. 21, Oct. 24, Oct. 28 and Oct. 31 for utility work.   • On Friday, Isaiah Howell’s 62-yard touchdown run—scored with two minutes left—gave Sylvan Hills a 40-35 win over Benton at Everett Stadium. Coach Mark Kelley said the victory marked a turning point for his team as they built momentum for upcoming games.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • In a 6A-West Conference football game played Friday night at Champions Field in Springdale, Shiloh Christian beat Mountain Home by reaching 50 points first—showing a strong offensive performance.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • Bentonville head coach Jody Grant earned his 100th win when his team shut out Fort Smith Northside 34-0—Conrad Schmitz ended the theatrics in only 12 seconds.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
