  • Weaving NWA announced the 20 winners of the 2025 NWA Weaver Award—each recipient will receive $5,000 to support projects that build social trust in local neighborhoods, with awardees such as Courtney King, Jason Maxwell, and Amber Perrodin leading community efforts.  NWA Business Journal

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • As archery deer season opened Saturday, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission reported that 11 of 17 hunting accidents stemmed from tree stand falls that caused broken bones and one fatality from a saddle fall—officials warn hunters to inspect gear and always fasten their safety harness before climbing.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Highfill’s City Council has appointed Sarah Summitt as the new city recorder and Elise Brown as a Planning Commission member—Summitt brings detailed nursing record-keeping experience and Brown holds prior governance expertise—to support the growing city.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Highfill’s City Council appointed Sarah Summitt (whose nursing background supports her record-keeping) as city recorder on Sept.16 and named Elise Brown (who holds a molecular biology degree) to the Planning Commission to fill a vacancy after recent turnover. The moves come as the council reviews and passes additional local ordinances that guide the city’s operations.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Fourteen residential lots in Farmington sold for over $5.3 million while a Bentonville pasture sold for $4.8 million, and other deals in Lowell, Benton County, and Cave Springs reached multi-million-dollar prices—buyers like Beacon Ventures, Hudson Steel, and Bentley Holdings secured local financing to complete the transactions.  NWA Business Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • Arkansas Razorbacks wide receiver Jalen Brown had surgery on Saturday for a broken tibia and fibula in his left leg after landing awkwardly in the end zone during a game against Notre Dame—his season is over and his return remains unknown.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Arkansas football promoted Kolby Smith to interim offensive coordinator and Chris Wilson to interim defensive coordinator amid recent coaching changes. Wilson was an assistant defensive line coach with experience at the Houston Roughnecks — while Smith has led the running backs since 2024.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • At Reynolds Razorback Stadium on Monday, interim head coach Bobby Petrino and Athletic Director Hunter Yurachek outlined changes following Coach Sam Pittman’s firing after a 56-13 loss to Notre Dame. Petrino fired three defensive coaches and will work to boost the offense, defense and special teams over the next nine weeks+ the team prepares for its game against No. 15 Tennessee on Oct. 11.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
