BUSINESS NEWS

  • Four University of Arkansas students launched Swaply, a resale app for UA students to buy and sell clothes after competing for funds and leaving summer internships to work full-time—since its August launch, the team has reached 217 users and now plans to expand to 15 universities.  The Arkansas Traveler

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Gentry Middle School joined the Crystal Bridges program — a plan to weave art into main classroom lessons. The school now joins others in a push to help students learn through art.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Charles F. Robinson serves as the chancellor of the University of Arkansas Fayetteville and visits students to mentor them and build their connection to leadership—his work is fueled by a lifelong passion for learning and integration.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

HEALTH NEWS

  • Inspections in Benton County from Sept. 15 to Sept. 19 revealed several restaurants had serious food safety problems that could lead to foodborne illness. At Los Monchies in Cave Springs, raw bacon was stored on deli ham and a pool noodle was used to repair a prep table—actions that must be corrected to meet health standards.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

SPORTS NEWS

  • No. 7 Arkansas beat Ole Miss 4-1 on Friday at Razorback Field in Fayetteville as Bella Field scored twice while Ainsley Erzen and Makenzie Malham added goals and Ole Miss scored a late goal. The win improved Arkansas to a 4-0 SEC record and they will face South Carolina on Oct. 2—continuing their strong play against the Rebels.  The Arkansas Traveler
  • On Saturday, the Razorbacks lost 56–13 at home to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish after their defense gave up 643 yards of total offense—leaving coach Sam Pittman frustrated. Freshman quarterback CJ Carr threw for 354 yards and four touchdowns while wide receiver Jalen Brown broke his tibia and fibula in a play that ended Arkansas' scoring chance.  The Arkansas Traveler
  • 5NEWS and Yarnell's Ice Cream partner to highlight standout high school football plays from teams in Elkins, Springdale, Shiloh and Bentonville West. Voters choose a winner by Tuesday, Sept 30 at 3 p.m.—the winning team will receive a $200 donation to its booster club.  5 News
