COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A record 312,400 pounds of rice was donated Tuesday to the Arkansas Foodbank amid tough times for farmers—more than 2 million servings will go to five food banks in the state. Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders and other officials said the donation helps address food insecurity while supporting local agriculture.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Walmart, McKesson, and USAntibiotics have formed a joint venture called ClarusONE Sourcing Services to supply millions of doses of amoxicillin to Walmart pharmacies and other health providers, and McKesson distributed the antibiotic beginning in August — a step that supports Walmart’s goal to invest $350 billion in U.S.-made products by 2030.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bentonville officials said North Main Street, between Northwest Second and Northwest Third, is closed daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. until Oct. 1 for water line work on a Benton County court building—this closure was originally expected to end last month but is now extended through September.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Bentonville City Council approved a 7% annual increase in wastewater rates effective Jan 1 from 2026 to 2030, which will raise the average residential bill by about $3 in 2026 and $4 in later years. The council also authorized a $55 million revenue bond to fund upgrades for the city's 86-year-old wastewater treatment plant—part of a plan to cover rising operating and capital costs.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • The Bentonville Municipal Airport Advisory Board will meet on September 24 at City Hall — City Council Chambers — 305 SW A Street to discuss parking options on the east side, a potential site south of the circular apron and the use of an open ADA grant. The session runs from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and is open to the public with a Zoom option.  City of Bentonville
  • Bentonville Parks and Recreation closed the restrooms at Dave Peel Park on September 9 and will permanently close the park on September 22 for construction—the park is being redesigned with native gardens, a stage, public art and a modern playground along A Street Promenade.  City of Bentonville
