- ➤ The city of Bentonville will build a new recreation center for people 50 and older at 215 SW A Street, set to open in the first half of 2026. The $23 million center will have a cafe lounge, fitness center and group classes while adding staff and volunteer roles and will charge $15 a month for locals and $19 for others—funded by city dollars and a Walton Family Foundation grant. 4029 News

- ➤ City officials in Rogers announced that Rainbow Road will be closed to through traffic between Wallis Road and Spring Water Way beginning Monday for reconstruction that includes new curb, gutter and storm drainage improvements. Detour routes using Mt. Hebron Road, Wallis Road and Shores Avenue are in place, and the closure will last through late October. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
- ➤ State and local leaders met Thursday in Cave Springs to address rising housing costs by proposing changes to zoning rules and improvements to sewer capacity — key issues that affect local development. - ➤ State Rep. Austin McCollum announced his candidacy for county judge in Benton County after Judge Barry Moehring said he would not seek another term—Justice of the Peace Carrie Smith of Rogers is also running. McCollum, who has strong local ties and more than $60,000 in campaign funds, said he will focus on fiscal responsibility—addressing jail overcrowding, supporting law enforcement, investing in roads, and using technology to improve services.
