  • Visit Bentonville has launched its mentorship program—Belong Bentonville—to help newcomers and longtime residents connect over shared interests. The program will match online applications and begin with 100 to 150 mentors this fall.  NWA Business Journal

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Tyson Foods Inc. named Devin Cole as its new chief operating officer and he will oversee the company’s poultry, beef, pork, prepared foods and international segments—his appointment follows his role as group president of poultry and international. Tyson said its leadership change comes as chief supply chain officer Brady Stewart departed for violating the Code of Conduct and that further updates will be shared before Sept. 28.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Beaver Lake Project Office is accepting applications from adjacent landowners to burn driftwood on public land until August 15. Applicants must gain written permission and follow strict rules & notify the local fire department to ensure safety and protect natural resources.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • On Tuesday at Bella Vista Country Club, Bentonville's boys golf team shot 280 to win the Wolverine Invitational. The girls team won with a score of 246—Grace Abbruzzese hit a hole-in-one on the par 3 No. 14.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • On Tuesday night in Centerton, the Fayetteville volleyball team won a close match against Bentonville West at Wolverine Arena after losing the first set and then rallying with set scores of 22 to 25, 25 to 23, 25 to 22, and 25 to 22—proving their strong comeback skills.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
