Bentonville City Council voted 8-0 to approve a $3.5 million grant from the Walton Family Foundation — the funds will relocate a 1.5-mile section of Wishing Springs Trail and add two new bridges to restore safe passage for cyclists and pedestrians between Bentonville and Bella Vista. Construction will begin in October and last about one year as the project repairs damage from past flooding that caused long detours.

Benton County inspectors found several restaurants with food safety issues such as unclean equipment, improper storage of cleaning agents like Drano stored near cup lids at Airport Stop in Bentonville+ and problems with handwashing and temperature controls reported at sites in Siloam Springs, Rogers, and other nearby communities. These violations raise concerns over practices that could lead to foodborne illness and require prompt corrective measures.
