  • America's Car-Mart Inc. of Rogers is expected to report higher earnings and more revenue before the market opens on Sept. 4 as analysts say vehicle sales and profit margins are improving. Analysts predict the company will earn 83 cents per share and boost revenue to about $359 million+stronger car sales are expected to help raise margins further.  NWA Business Journal
  • At a Tuesday event in San Diego, Walmart presented new tools and incentives to help third-party sellers speed up order fulfillment and expand reach while unveiling plans to display Marketplace items on store shelves.   • A judge issued a gag order in the capital murder case against Andrew James McGann, who is accused of fatally stabbing two hikers at Devil’s Den State Park on July 26+ the order restricts comments from law enforcement, court staff and others to protect his right to a fair trial as he awaits his Nov. 14 court date.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Researchers at the University of Arkansas are studying calcium in poultry feed using a faster digestion test and the traditional bone ash method to measure the nutrient's availability and optimize feed formulations. They expect producers to save costs by adjusting feed with the right calcium balance — a change that could prevent multi-million dollar losses.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

HEALTH NEWS

  • Arkansas Children's Northwest received a $500,000 grant from the Schmieding Foundation to boost its $83 million expansion at 2601 Gene George Blvd.—The project will add new operating rooms, inpatient beds and upgraded services while renaming the pharmacy in honor of the foundation's support.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Commissioner Tommy Land announced that an auction of tax-delinquent properties in Springdale on August 20 raised $1,165,500, with 139 registered bidders buying 51 of 52 parcels—nine in Washington County and 42 in Benton County. The sale returns funds to local tax rolls and supports school districts and county governments.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
