  • Residents can take part in a range of outdoor workshops and events in Fayetteville and nearby communities—events include free burn certification at the Springdale Hunt Family Nature Center on Aug. 21–22, beginner archery lessons and snake education on Aug. 23, a youth quail hunt near Centerton on Sept. 20, walking tours at Lake Fayetteville, fishing contests, and team-building activities at Coler Mountain Bike Preserve.   • The Northwest Arkansas Business Journal announced the 29 honorees for its 2025 Forty Under 40 class—emerging leaders chosen from a large pool of nominations for their work in engineering, finance, health care, real estate, retail and vendor services.   • Benton County Circuit Judge Brad Karren ordered a Bentonville man accused of killing his nephew to be committed to the Arkansas State Hospital—to restore his fitness to stand trial.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The state Department of Education approved the charter school’s plan to move into the old Garfield Elementary building, and the Williams family bought the property from the Rogers School District to gift it to the school — a move that saves a piece of our local history.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

HEALTH NEWS

  • A water main break on Monday led the Arkansas Department of Health to issue a boil order for customers on the east side of Arkansas 62 and along Landers Road in Benton County Water District 1—crews located the leak and worked on repairs. Affected customers must boil water for drinking, cooking, or food preparation until further notice.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • Fishing reports show that striped bass are best caught at first light while catfish bite all baits at several lakes—anglers can take advantage of early morning conditions to try for various catches.
