  • Today volunteers will gather at Heifer Ranch in Perryville from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. to harvest this year’s watermelon crop that will benefit a hunger relief agency + the event is part of the annual melon fest.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Social Ride Bentonville is a casual cycling group that gathers over 100 locals every Monday evening at 6:30 at Archie's for a leisurely ride on the Greenway—co-founders Kevin Girkins and Ida Nisly say the event supports local businesses and welcomes riders of all kinds. The ride features different routes and fun themes, and it is currently scheduled through the end of October.  5 News

CRIME NEWS

  • Authorities said the body of 6-year-old Odin Upton, reported missing from his home on Browning Road on August 7th, was found Friday morning at 8 a.m. in Gentry by the Benton County Sheriff's Office.  5 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Thursday, students at Northwest Arkansas Community College in Bentonville attended a summer construction camp where they learned to operate loaders and excavators. Local contractors guided the group as they worked on a team project to build coffee tables for Habitat for Humanity—providing hands-on training in construction skills.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Northwest Arkansas Council will launch a five-year, $53M recycling program to improve curbside service & reduce landfill overflow, addressing issues like low resident satisfaction and confusing recycling rules. The plan follows Fayetteville City Council’s recent 5-1 vote to approve a new cart-based recycling system.  5 News
