  • The 6th annual SOAR NWA event will take place on Friday, August 15 and Saturday, August 16 at the Benton County Fairgrounds. Gates will open at 5 p.m. and events will end at 10 p.m. each night — the activity offers lit-up hot air balloons, tethered rides, a kid zone, a beer garden, live music and a car exhibit while raising funds to empower people with disabilities.  4029 News
  • Kent Eikenberry, president and CEO of Northwest Arkansas Food Bank, will retire in the second quarter (Q2) of 2026, the nonprofit said. The board has begun the search for a new leader (who will steer the organization’s hunger relief efforts) to ensure a smooth transition.  NWA Business Journal

  • Teens learned hands-on construction skills at a summer camp hosted at Northwest Arkansas Community College in Bentonville on Thursday by the Associated Builders and Contractors of Arkansas—teaching students ages 12 to 17 trades like carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work as part of efforts to address the local labor shortage.  5 News
  • The University of Arkansas in Fayetteville begins move-in weekend today with record enrollment as thousands of new students move into dorms and head to Baum-Walker Stadium for keycards and housing details—volunteers in red wristbands assist while signage directs traffic along Razorback Road. Move-in programming lasts through the weekend and classes start on Monday, August 18.  5 News

  • Motorists in Bentonville are advised that the intersection of Southeast J Street and Southeast Walton Boulevard will have lane closures for traffic signal installation starting next week until Aug. 29 with work from 9 a.m.—3 p.m. on Monday.   • Arkansas nurse practitioner Hannah Baxendale said parents should check that their children are up to date on vaccines before school starts+ she explained that wellness shots at ages 4, 11, and 16 help protect against rising cases of RSV and COVID-19 and noted that medical records can be accessed via an app or by calling a doctor.  4029 News
