- ➤ SafeHaven Security Group will host the second annual Violence Prevention Conference of Mid-America at NWACC in Bentonville on October 22 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will feature keynotes, panels, workshops and a de-escalation training class on October 21 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. with a $148 registration fee—aimed at equipping professionals with strategies to prevent violence. - ➤ More than 125 people will attend the networking event hosted by the Northwest Arkansas chapter of Contractors, Closers and Connections from 5 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 21 at Meteor Guitar Gallery in downtown Bentonville—Bentonville Mayor Stephanie Orman and planning and community development director Tyler Overstreet will speak while cocktails, appetizers, and entertainment support Havenwood, a nonprofit aiding single mothers. - ➤ Bentonville City Council will review staff recommendations for managing growth in three designated study areas next week (the proposals will shape future development decisions). Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
- ➤ Benton County has begun construction on a new Criminal Justice Center off Melissa Drive that will add two courtrooms, offices for the prosecuting attorney’s office and a juvenile detention pod, and relocate Circuit Court Division II. The $15.8 million project is funded by county capital funds and sales of two former courthouses, and a new parking lot will open Monday (Aug. 18) as construction continues with the facility set to open in August 2026. 4029 News

- ➤ Arkansas students will be required to put away digital devices during the school day starting this fall after lawmakers passed the Bell to Bell no Cell Act. Doctors warn that too much screen time may hurt kids' sleep, cause weight gain, lower grades, and lead to anxiety and depression (they suggest turning screens off at least one hour before bedtime). 4029 News
