On May 25, former police chief Grant Hardin, known as the Devil in the Ozarks, walked out of the North Central Unit in Castle Rock when two employees broke rules, sparking a two-week manhunt that ended on June 6 when state police caught him near Moccasin Creek (Hardin is now held in Varner Supermax Unit).

Receiver Keymian Henderson Jr. announced his commitment to play for Arkansas on Saturday while on a cruise from Carthage, Texas — he chose Arkansas over offers from TCU, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, and Houston after a steady contact from coach Ronnie Fouch.
