FINANCE NEWS

  • Arkansas closed fiscal year 2025 with net available general revenues of $6.68 billion—producing a $367.9 million surplus that exceeded projections by $61.7 million. This result followed surpluses of $698.4 million in fiscal 2024 and $1.161 billion in fiscal 2023.  5 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Bentonville will hold a community meeting on July 17 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Bentonville Library’s Walmart Room to present its draft Unified Development Code + residents are invited to offer feedback to shape the final version.  City of Bentonville

HEALTH NEWS

  • Fireworks can cause serious injuries today as sparklers burn at about 2,000° F (enough to melt metal), and nurse practitioner Gage Lankford at Northwest Medical Plaza advised keeping water hoses and eye protection ready while lighting one firework at a time and keeping children and pets at a safe distance.  4029 News
  • State officials say summer nutrition programs are underway to help feed thousands of children, with the Summer EBT program already enrolling 325,000 kids and offering benefits to qualifying families + free breakfast and meal services in schools.
