Bourgon Reynolds, a Bentonville resident with a BA from the University of Arkansas and a JD from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, was named the third woman managing member in Rose Law Firm's 205-year history.

She represents companies and individuals in complex civil litigation cases—Reynolds plans to expand the firm’s Northwest Arkansas office while maintaining its strong legacy.

Today, the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal will honor 10 local businesswomen at a networking event at The Apollo on Emma in downtown Springdale.

They were chosen by reader nominations and journal staff for their leadership in both startups and long-established companies and for giving back to the community.

Mandy Hathorn, a Springdale resident and senior vice president at Encore Bank, explained her work in mortgage banking since 2004 and how she helps families secure home loans while building long-term trust.

She advised women to build relationships and stressed consistency and dependability as keys to success—she also shared that her next challenge is helping her oldest son transition to college.

Emily English, a Fayetteville resident with degrees from Hendrix College and UAMS, has spent her career linking farming and public health & improving food systems for local communities.

She now leads the Northwest Arkansas Food Systems initiative, working with different groups to make healthy food more available.

Bentonville-based 37 North Expeditions and Ecological Design Group have partnered to add outdoor experience programming to EDG's design and engineering work.

Danny Collins from 37 North was named director of experience at EDG—he will help the firm create outdoor spaces that bring people together.

Motorists in Bentonville should expect lane closures on two roads this week as crews install storm drains and repair a gas line from 8 a.m. — 4 p.m. Southwest Morningstar Road is reduced to one lane between Southwest Mahogany and Southwest Rosemont avenues while the northbound curbside lane on Southeast J Street is closed during the same hours.

Residents will soon be able to ask questions about a proposal to build a roundabout and improve the intersection of Vaughn Road and Southwest Regional Airport Boulevard at an open house meeting that will run from 4:30-6:30 p.m. June 26 at the Bentonville Municipal Building.

The plan includes a two-lane roundabout, roadway and drainage improvements and sidewalk construction, and public comments will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. July 11.

Today, Bentonville paused filling 17 vacant positions and halted nonessential travel and training to address a shortfall in sales tax revenue caused by larger-than-expected state rebates.

City officials said they will review suspended capital projects and meet with local businesses and state legislators to improve revenue forecasting.
