CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Three men were arrested Wednesday in Northwest Arkansas for drug and firearm charges, with a Texarkana man held at Washington County Detention Center on a $15,000 bond, a Rogers man held at Benton County Jail without bond, and a Fayetteville man held at Washington County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond (details confirmed). - ➤ As the nation prepares for the Army’s 250th anniversary, local lawmakers and veterans shared how the military changed their lives; State Rep. Stetson Painter said joining at 17 was life-changing and retired officers Joe Dunn & Michael Thompson recalled the Army’s role in serving all people. The Arkansas National Guard said it will not send troops or equipment to Saturday’s parade. 4029 News
- ➤ The state Board of Finance approved on Thursday the submission of an application to form a captive insurance company for public schools, higher education institutions, and state agencies, which the Insurance Department will review before July 1. The new program is funded by $136 million in one-time state funds and will be managed by the state as it works to keep rates flat and phase in deductibles for school districts—ensuring controlled premium increases based on property valuations.
