  • The Rogers Goodwill Resource Center and Outlet Store reopened Wednesday at 9 a.m. in Rogers after a yearlong closure from an EF2 tornado — nearly 300 people gathered outside to celebrate a Bins Bonanza where employees randomly selected shoppers, including Dustin Luff from Sulphur Springs who arrived at 4:30 a.m., for a two-minute shopping spree through blue bins of merchandise.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • Pedal Kids USA, a Bentonville-based program that teaches kids safe cycling, launched an app for Apple and Android devices that lets families track skills, access expert resources, and register for local classes and camps—its release follows the organization’s roots from cycling startup Buddy Pegs and supports community ride challenges.  NWA Business Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Decatur School District held its graduation ceremony on May 22 at Bill George Arena on the John Brown University campus in Siloam Springs. Twenty-eight seniors received their diplomas and honor graduate Noemi Suarez delivered the salutatorian address — marking the end of their 13-year journey.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A black bear was captured in a tree near Northwest Arkansas Community College in Bentonville on Wednesday. The animal is two to three years old and in its cinnamon phase, and officials are watching closely as several bears have been seen during mating season — Bentonville Animal Services is checking if it is the same bear spotted earlier in Bella Vista.  4029 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • In Springdale, the Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission unanimously approved a proposed study of wastewater treatment needs on Wednesday—members moved to accept the measure before the executive director finished his introduction, and the study will guide planning for the region's future treatment capabilities.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • Bentonville Tigers baseball coach Todd Abbott ended his 25-year career—amassing over 350 wins and sending more than 100 players to college and pro levels—and will remain a teacher in the district.
