ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Arkansas Division of Emergency Management reported 28 fire fatalities so far in 2026 — a rise from 27 by this date in 2025 — and urged Bentonville residents to check and maintain smoke alarms for safety.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Walmart recently opened its third milk processing facility in Robinson, Texas, a 300,000 sqft plant that cost over $350 million and will create about 400 jobs. The facility will supply Walmart and Sam's Club stores in the South Central region, including those in Arkansas.  NWA Business Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • Today, Benton live music fans can catch Josh Stewart performing at Revival Restaurant and Beer Garden from 6 to 9 p.m. — a local favorite — while regional shows, including Frontier Circus at White Water Tavern in Little Rock, round out the vibrant lineup.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Arkansas Education Department submitted three waiver requests to the U.S. Department of Education on Wednesday to ease federal rules that officials say limit student success. Public comments are open until Tuesday & review will take 120 days as the state seeks to simplify funding and testing for local districts.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Rogers Public Schools is studying a block schedule for its high schools that gives students longer class periods and fewer daily classes, with a task force (including Hanover Research data) gathering facts and a decision expected by fall to start for the 2027-28 school year.  5 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bentonville’s May sales tax revenue jumped 310.87% from a year ago thanks to large rebates from projects including Walmart’s home office campus construction — other local cities reported little or no growth. Year-to-date revenue in Bentonville now reaches $11.436 million compared to $10.447 million last year.  NWA Business Journal

  • Coach Cal has signed former 4-star center Maper Maker to the Razorbacks’ top-ranked recruiting class for 2026. The former Bella Vista Prep (Calif.) player, who played internationally and scored 35 points in a recent Arizona tournament, joins four 5-star recruits and top transfers.  The Arkansas Traveler
