COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Bentonville will hold a grand opening Saturday, May 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for its new Adult Recreation Center for residents 50 and older at the Downtown Activity Center (215 S.W. A St.), featuring a fitness center, multipurpose rooms, a pool, and outdoor pickleball courts.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Volunteers from VFW Post 3031 in Rogers and local helpers planted flags Saturday morning (at Benton County Memorial Cemetery) to honor veterans and preserve their stories. Kathy Tobey said the event supports a community that remembers the sacrifices of those who served.  4029 News
  • City leaders in Rogers say that although debris is mostly cleared and infrastructure repaired, the recovery continues after the tornadoes of May 26, 2024. Officials note a new tree-planting project will add 1,600 trees in right-of-ways as residents help rebuild the community.  5 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Today, a Commonwealth Fund report shows that Arkansas ranks last in quality for Hispanic care with a 3rd percentile score and 49th on access, noting 35% of Hispanic adults are uninsured (language barriers and few bilingual providers compound the issue), experts say.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

SPORTS NEWS

  • After a 12-day road trip where the Razorbacks went 5-2 and ended with an 11-1 loss on Sunday, the baseball team will play a regional on the road and learn its destination Monday when the NCAA Tournament selection airs at 11 a.m. on ESPN2.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Georgia beat Arkansas 11-1 in the SEC tournament today, and the Razorbacks will find out at 7:30 p.m. if they host a regional.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • The Arkansas women’s golf team finished three rounds at 3-under par at the NCAA Championship at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California, tying for fifth and joining the top 15 teams for final stroke play today.   • Former 4-star center Maper Maker committed to Arkansas after an official visit to Fayetteville earlier this month; the 7-0 recruit (rated No. 18 nationally for the 2025 class) will join the 2026 team after playing with AUNZ Prep in Australia, where he scored 35 points in a three-day showcase.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
