- ➤ A Bentonville judge ruled Tuesday that prosecutors can use a secretly recorded conversation by a Rogers man's ex-wife in his rape trial—allowing the evidence to be admitted at trial. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On Monday, the Arkansas Department of Higher Education awarded the University of Arkansas $1 million to expand its electronics program by developing credit and non-credit courses for semiconductor workforce needs. University officials said the grant will create a new statewide program that connects local industry, education, and higher education — allowing course transfer between two- and four-year colleges. - ➤ On May 5, Bentonville West clinched its playoff spot when 14-year-old Jonathan Veira hit a walk-off home run in the seventh inning at Wolverine Baseball Complex at Bentonville West High School in Centerton. - ➤ On April 25, top angler Keith Brashers fished at Beaver Lake where heavy spring rains nearly filled the lake and created both shallow and deep areas for bass. He caught smallmouth, largemouth and spotted bass while the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission said high water helps bass spawn by offering cover (flooded trees and logs) for young fish.
