  • Arvest Opportunity Fund provided its 1,000th business loan and now launches its annual Million Meals campaign to raise money for over 70 food partners in the region. Donations will be accepted through May 31 at Arvest branches & online to support hunger relief.  NWA Business Journal
  • Bentonville-based Heartland Forward named John Bailey as its first AI fellow (appointed on Monday, Apr. 27) to support its AI Caucus and guide policy discussions on responsible AI use that will help boost regional economic growth.  NWA Business Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Local wildlife officials advise Bentonville residents in spring to secure trash cans, wildlife feeders & cooking grease as young black bears search for food. They warn that leaving attractants out may invite prolonged bear visits.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At its annual meeting at Razorback Stadium, the Northwest Arkansas Council unveiled six strategy documents focused on regional infrastructure improvements, including wastewater management and road upgrades. CEO Nelson Peacock stressed that coordinated planning & investments will support future growth and better governance.  NWA Business Journal
  • The Arkansas Department of Agriculture is accepting specialty crop grant proposals until May 8. Applicants must request at least $20,000 and address issues like food safety & sustainability to be reviewed for inclusion in the state's USDA plan.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • Arkansas gymnast Joscelyn Roberson entered the transfer portal Monday (she was a 2024 Olympic alternate) after two years with the Razorbacks, earning postseason All-America honors on floor and beam while setting freshman records.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • The Razorback men's tennis team will face Cornell in the NCAA tournament on Friday, even as the school announced this season will be their final. The program cut reallocates $2.5 million across athletics and drew criticism from coach Cox and alumni (many urged a funding alternative).  5 News
