- ➤ Lawmakers in Northwest Arkansas ended their session by taking steps to expand water and sewer service—an action they said aims to clear the biggest roadblock to the region’s growth. - ➤ Travelers at Northwest Arkansas National Airport must show a REAL ID‑compliant document or an approved alternative to board domestic flights starting May 7—those without proper ID should plan to arrive at least two hours early, and up to four if needed, to allow for extra screening. Residents can quickly obtain or update their ID at local Revenue Offices, with Bentonville's office noted as the busiest in the state. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

- ➤ Henry Reyes has been named head girls wrestling coach at Bentonville High School as athletic director Chris Hutchens announced on Thursday — his promotion takes effect immediately. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
- ➤ Springdale Har-Ber swimmer Hayden Gibson was named NWADG Girls Swimmer of the Year after competing at the Class 6A state swim and dive championships in March—she said she focused on her overall performance instead of breaking a state record. Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
- ➤ University of Arkansas defensive back signee Julian Neal and his father visited Fayetteville last week and unexpectedly met Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer John Calipari at Reynolds Razorback Stadium. - ➤ Local prep sports games on Friday and Saturday produced wins, draws and close finishes as baseball, soccer and softball contests showcased strong pitching, timely hitting and key plays. In baseball, Shiloh Christian beat Bentonville West by a score of 12 to 2 and Springdale Har-Ber won 9 to 1 over Ozark, while Bentonville girls earned a 9 to 0 win in soccer and Rogers High edged Pea Ridge by 6 to 5 — results that affect conference standings.
