  • Walmart CEO Doug McMillon earned $27.4 million in 2024 as the company grew revenues by 5.1% and operating income by 8.6% last year—he thanked employees and shareholders in his annual letter.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • The Pointe Bentonville Apartments—a 452-unit multifamily development southeast of highways 112 and 12—sold for $104.5 million at about $231,194 per unit when VR Bentonville Limited Partnership—led by Andrew Stewart—purchased the property and assumed Fannie Mae loans of $57.91 million due by April 2028 and April 2029.  NWA Business Journal
  • Walmart’s top six leaders earned a total of $99.95 million last year — a 3.3% rise from the previous year — as stated in a proxy filing sent to the SEC on April 24. This pay includes base salary, bonuses and other compensation tied to the company’s strong sales and income performance.  NWA Business Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • In Cave Springs on Friday, about 100 people attended the Urban Land Institute’s Spring Symposium where executive director Wes Craiglow+ said no city or community can solve Northwest Arkansas’ water challenges by itself. He added that local leaders must work together to address growing wastewater and water supply issues.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Starting next week, Southeast Benton Street will close daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. until May 5 for the Thaden Lower School project—supporting a new school for up to 180 students. The southbound curb lane on Southwest I Street will close daily from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. until May 16 for infrastructure improvements—weather or other changes may postpone the schedule.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Blue Crane and Riverside announced on April 25 a mixed-use project on Second Street in downtown Bentonville that will add residential units, commercial spaces, and underground parking while preserving historic features such as the Benton County Jail and original storefront designs. Utility relocation has begun and construction will start in early 2026—developers are finalizing detailed investment plans.  NWA Business Journal
  • A new mixed-use project on Northeast Second Street will remake downtown square with residential units, an underground parking structure, and retail and dining spaces — a plan by local developer Blue Crane and Texas partner Riverside — as utility relocations have begun. Arvest Bank will temporarily move to 215 N.W. A St. while construction is expected to start in early 2026.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
