- ➤ In February, Northwest Arkansas cities reported a combined $8.417M in sales tax revenue, up 0.46% in the April report despite declines in Fayetteville and Rogers. Bentonville’s revenue grew 3.04% to $1.919M and Springdale’s increased 6.06% to $1.995M — gains that contrasted with larger retail centers showing drops. NWA Business Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Benton County officials discussed a policy issue after a justice of the peace attended an out-of-state Washington conference last month that wasn’t in the county budget—county leaders questioned proper oversight of such expenses. - ➤ The Arkansas Department of Transportation will lead a public meeting next week from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Gravette Civic Center at 401 Charlotte St. S.E.—the meeting will look at adding a traffic signal and turn lanes at Arkansas 59 and 72 to make travel safer. - ➤ Governor Sanders signed Elijah's Law—Arkansas is the sixth state to require daycare centers to use strict food allergy guidelines after 3-year-old Elijah died from an allergic reaction to a grilled cheese sandwich. 5 News

- ➤ On April 24, Cushman & Wakefield (Sage Partners) reported that Northwest Arkansas office vacancy fell to 4.4%, the lowest rate in 15 years and below the national average of 13.9%.
