  • A native plant sale at the Compton Gardens Maintenance Office in Bentonville offers 1,500 plants including trees, shrubs, and pollinators. Site manager Meagan Love said buyers should act fast because the sale will end Friday.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Arkansas Department of Transportation reported an incident today at 8:07 a.m. at Mile Marker 90.1 on I-49 southbound east of Bentonville that has resulted in lane closures, and no injuries have been reported as of 8:39 a.m.  5 News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Lowell-based J.B. Hunt reported lower first quarter earnings and revenue, with net income dropping to $117.74 million and revenue falling by 0.76% to $2.92 billion, yet the carrier beat analyst estimates. The company said higher intermodal volumes and cost cuts helped offset weaker performance in some segments, and its stock closed Tuesday at $135.11.  NWA Business Journal

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Thunderstorms that hit the state from April 2nd to April 5 caused about $78.9M in crop damage by flooding 46% of rice fields, 30% of soybean acres, and 23% of corn, according to a survey reported Tuesday.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Department of Higher Education awarded $750,000 to the University of Arkansas to help more students earn data science certificates and degrees statewide. Program director Karl Schubert said the university will use the grant for a two-year HIRED project — made to add more two-year colleges and offer stackable certificates — to train workers for new data science jobs.  NWA Business Journal
