COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Northwest Arkansas Food Bank — in partnership with local libraries — is bringing back its free community seed library program that offers flower and produce seeds to anyone who wants to garden. Seed pickups are available at eight local libraries, including Bentonville Public Library.  4029 News
  • In Arkansas, quilters led by Teresa Moreno honor veterans by sewing handmade quilts to bring comfort and hope. The group, including Moreno’s 81-year-old mother, presented quilts for four Vietnam-era veterans on March 31 at the Saline County courthouse and will deliver another set soon as part of the national Quilts of Valor project — with 405,649 quilts awarded so far.  5 News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Trey Reid from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission warned residents to be snake-aware as warm weather and flooding push snakes into yards—especially near water. He advised people to be careful when working outside and to leave any snake alone.  5 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Arkansas lawmakers are returning to Little Rock today to finish the 95th General Assembly and work on hundreds of bills including FOIA laws, funding for a proposed Franklin County prison, the Arkansas Access Act and ending the state grocery tax—Senate Pro Tempore Bart Hester said long days lie ahead to complete the work.  4029 News
  • Arkansas legislators introduced House Bill 1965—known as the Healthy Food Retail Act—to offer grants that will help bring fresh fruits and vegetables to low-income communities, and the bill awaits a Senate vote today.  The Arkansas Traveler
