  • Local churches have announced their Holy Week schedules with Palm Sunday services on April 13, Maundy Thursday on April 17, Good Friday events on April 18, and Easter Sunday worship on April 20. BUSINESS NEWS

  • Bentonville-based AWSOM Lands bought 50.77 acres along I-49 for $18.51 million as part of a planned health care campus that will include a cardiac care center—priced at $364,777 per acre—and the property is part of a 100-acre site purchased by the Alice L. Walton Foundation located 2 miles east of downtown.  NWA Business Journal

CRIME NEWS

  • A Kansas man was arrested Wednesday in connection with a 2023 altercation at Benton County Jail that left an inmate dead—he is accused of killing the victim.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A proposed bill would require Arkansas schools to install silent panic alert systems that use advanced security software to keep students safe. Lawmakers will consider the measure as it moves through the process — final details have not yet been decided.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Development projects in Benton County are stalled because the Decatur wastewater plant is processing more than its permit limit of 3.8 million gallons per day—officials said high tariffs on its filtration parts raised costs while the plant awaits expansion updates by the end of the year as officials seek additional funds.  5 News
  • Northeast Second Street from Northeast A to North Main streets, including intersections, is closed to vehicle traffic until 6 p.m. June 20 due to planned downtown improvements.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
