- ➤ Ashley Wheeler, CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Arkansas, grew up helping build homes in Fayetteville and now leads a merger of two local affiliates that finished on July 1 — a change helped by a grant from the Walton Family Foundation. She plans to build 20 homes each year and will form partnerships to get donations, volunteers and support from Restore stores. NWA Business Journal
- ➤ Bentonville native Sam Hoisington started the Bentonville Bulletin one year ago and it now has more than 10,000 subscribers as it covers local issues like rising water rates and taxes—he said community support is key to adding more local reporters. 5 News

- ➤ Walmart maintained its full-year sales and operating income outlook but removed its first-quarter operating profit guidance on Wednesday because of tariff risk—reporting that first-quarter sales are expected to grow by 3% to 4%. 5 News

- ➤ A delivery driver is accused of taking the Officer Down Memorial K9 statue from the Sheriff’s Office when leaving and officials are urging him to return the painted tribute—donated by a local garden center in Garfield in September. Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Senate Bill 290 was sent back to committee after an April 9 hearing that looked at changing how farming permits near Arkansas waterways are given — including at the Buffalo National River. Rep. DeAnn Vaught and farming leader Gordon Watkins said the bill may end current stops on new permits after 4 years and give elected officials more power to decide. 4029 News
- ➤ The City of Bentonville and the Bentonville Moves Coalition are hosting a ribbon cutting today from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the asphalt lot on the east side of the NWACC Parking Garage—marking the completion of Water Tower Road improvements that add a four-lane roadway, a 10-foot multi-use trail, and better access to NWACC and SE 8th Street—with refreshments and community celebration.
