Eight people were arrested on Tuesday and Wednesday for charges including aggravated assault, battery, drug possession and property theft in Northwest Arkansas — suspects are held at either Benton County Jail or Washington County Detention Center with no bond set.
On Feb. 27, Brightwater opened The Butcher’s Larder—a student-run for-profit butcher shop that marked the final step in the artisanal butchery program at the Center for the Study of Food at Northwest Arkansas Community College, providing students with hands-on learning in retail operations.
A proposed House bill would force several Northwest Arkansas school districts to drop their four-day school week and switch to a five-day schedule for the 2026-27 school year if it is passed by the Legislature + signed by the governor.
Students in the Gentry School District will attend classes on April 18 and May 23 to make up for snow days; the board changed the 2024-25 calendar on March 20 to avoid extending the school year (families with conflicts should contact their administration).
