  • Springdale-based Tyson Foods reported fiscal Q1 net income of $85 million on Monday, Feb. 2, missing Wall Street expectations with 24 cents per share compared to analysts’ estimates of $1.01 while posting $14.31 billion in revenue this quarter.  4029 News
  • Springdale-based Chandler Capital Group completed its acquisition of Golden-based Free Spirit Recreation on Jan. 30, as announced on Feb. 2. The outdoor brand will relocate operations to Springdale (hiring three to four more staff) while keeping its established identity.  NWA Business Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Turpentine Creek in Eureka Springs warns that Bill 7159 may weaken big cat rules and risk mistreatment of rescued animals (previously saved from neglect and illegal breeding). Representative Steve Womack said he will try to block the proposed legislation when he returns to Washington.  5 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks has scheduled two blood drives after recent winter weather halted collections. The Fayetteville drive runs Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Downtown Square and the Springdale drive runs Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at American Legion Post No. 139.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

SPORTS NEWS

  • Arkansas Women’s basketball lost to No. 18 Kentucky by 20 points at Bud Walton Arena on Sunday, which extended its SEC winless streak to nine games. The team will face Mizzou at home on Thursday and hopes to secure its first conference win.  The Arkansas Traveler
  • Linebacker recruit Will Caston said he was impressed by Arkansas' honest coaching staff during his visit on Saturday.
